The fine print
What we collect, why we collect it, and what we will never do with it. Written in plain English, because you should be able to read a privacy policy without a law degree.
Effective 28 July 2026
The short version
That is the gist. The detail below is the part that actually binds us, so it is worth a read.
Family Club is an Australian business building a membership for short, supervised care sessions for children at venues families already use, such as gyms, restaurants, clubs and co-working spaces. We are based in Victoria and currently pre-launch, which means the main thing we do right now is run a waitlist.
In this policy, "we", "us" and "Family Club" all mean the business behind joinfamilyclub.com. If you ever need our full legal and registration details, for example to make a formal complaint, email us and we will give them to you.
This policy explains how we handle personal information across everything we run: our website at joinfamilyclub.com, our waitlist and contact forms, our Facebook and Instagram pages and the lead forms we run on them, and the emails we send you.
We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Where this policy promises you something the law does not strictly require, we still mean it.
Only what we actually need. The exact fields depend on which waitlist you join.
If you join as a parent:
If you register a venue:
If you apply as a carer:
If you contact us by email, we keep your email address and whatever you chose to put in the message.
Automatically, when you browse the site, we collect limited technical information: pages viewed, the site or ad that sent you to us, approximate location at country level, and general device and browser type. See Cookies and tracking for the detail.
What we do not collect. We do not ask for or store payment details, identity documents, or health information about you or your child. We do not buy contact lists. If and when we begin running actual care sessions, we will need more from members, including health and medical details for your child, and we will update this policy and tell you before that happens.
Almost always straight from you, because you typed it into a form. Specifically:
If someone else gives us your details, for example a venue manager passing on a colleague's contact, we will only use them to get in touch about Family Club, and you can tell us to stop at any time.
We use your personal information to:
We will not use your information for a completely different purpose without either asking you first or making sure it is a purpose you would reasonably expect.
If you submitted your details through an instant form in a Family Club ad on Facebook or Instagram, rather than on our website, here is exactly what happens.
You can review and manage the lead forms you have submitted, and the information Meta holds about you, through Meta's Accounts Centre and Meta's Privacy Policy.
Some of the providers above store or process information outside Australia. Based on where those providers operate, your information is likely to be handled in the United States, and in Meta's case also Ireland. Other locations are possible where a provider runs a global network.
Before we disclose your information overseas we take reasonable steps to make sure the recipient handles it consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles, including relying on the contractual data protection terms these providers publish. Be aware that once information is held overseas, Australian privacy law may not be enforceable against that recipient in the same way.
When you join the waitlist you are asking us to keep you posted, so we will email you about Family Club. That is the whole point of the list. We keep it infrequent and we do not pass your address to other businesses to email you.
Every marketing email we send includes a working unsubscribe link and tells you who it is from, as the Spam Act 2003 (Cth) requires. Unsubscribe and we will stop, promptly. You can also just reply and ask, or email hello@joinfamilyclub.com. Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop essential emails about something you have actually booked with us.
We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access or disclosure. In practice:
No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. If a data breach ever occurs that is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
We keep waitlist details until Family Club opens in your area and for a reasonable period after that, or until you ask us to delete them, whichever comes first. If you unsubscribe, we keep the minimum needed to make sure we do not email you again by mistake.
If the waitlist you joined goes nowhere, for instance we never open in your city, we will delete or de-identify your details once they no longer serve any purpose. We also have to keep some records for as long as the law requires.
Our website and our waitlist are for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children, and we ask that under-18s do not submit our forms.
Parents can optionally tell us the ages of their children, for example "2 and 5", so we understand who Family Club needs to cater for. That is the only information about a child we collect at this stage, we never ask for a child's name or date of birth on the waitlist, and you are free to skip the field entirely.
Once we start running sessions, we will need real information about your child to look after them safely, including health, allergy and emergency contact details. That will be collected from you as their parent or guardian, held to a higher standard again, and covered by an updated policy we will walk you through. If you believe a child has given us information without a parent's involvement, email us and we will delete it.
You can, at any time:
Email hello@joinfamilyclub.com and we will respond within 30 days, usually much sooner. There is no charge. We may need to confirm it is really you before we hand over or change anything. In the rare case we cannot give you access, we will tell you why in writing and explain how to complain about it.
You can also deal with us anonymously or under a pseudonym if you would rather, though we will need a real email address to actually let you know when we open.
If you think we have mishandled your personal information, tell us first and give us the chance to fix it. Email hello@joinfamilyclub.com with the subject line "Privacy complaint" and as much detail as you can. We will acknowledge it quickly and respond in writing within 30 days.
If you are not happy with how we handle it, you can take it to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, the national privacy regulator:
As Family Club grows, particularly when we move from a waitlist to running real sessions, this policy will need to change. When it does we will post the updated version here with a new effective date. If the change is significant, and anything involving your child's information would be, we will email people on the list rather than quietly swapping the page.
The version you are reading took effect on 28 July 2026.
Questions, corrections, deletions or complaints all go to the same place, and a human reads them.
Ask us anything about how we handle your details. Or read the FAQ for how Family Club actually works.
